I stand here, yet I don’t know how,
I don’t crumble to the ground,
I’ve been lost and broken since you left,
So sad you’re not around.

We held hands and laughed a lot,
And at times we shared some tears,
But together we could face the world,
And challenge all our fears.

I held onto you from your first day,
You were loved with all my heart,
Sadly now that heart’s broken,
My life, it’s torn apart.

I would have gladly took your place,
And left you here to live,
Yet the choice it was not mine to make,
I had nothing more to give.

I’ll think of you and all we did,
Keep pictures in every room,
And our memories will never fade
of my child, gone too soon.
